Media Appreciation Workshop for IRCC 
 

Is the media a friend or a foe? That is what the 50 participants from various IRCCs who attended the Media Appreciation Workshop organised by OPSG on 30 January 2010 came to find out.

Led by Mr Viswa Sadasivan, CEO, Strategic Moves Pte Ltd, the engaging workshop gave an overview of the media landscape in Singapore, the impact of New Media on race relations and the dos & donts in media engagement. Explorations in Ethnicity for Young Leaders

Imagine a sunny Sunday morning and you wake up to the sound of music, no words just different instruments coming together to create a beautiful symphony. The residents of Toa Payoh surrounding the OnePeople.sg amphitheatre were audience to a drum circle organised by OnePeople.sg. The drum circle was one of the final activities of the Exploration of Ethnicity (EiE) workshop for young student leaders from various schools.

Trust Building Workshop
What would be the course of action to take to build trust within the community in the event of inter-ethnic or inter-religious conflict? IRCC leaders participated in the pilot run, where they engaged in discussions and shared approaches to build trust and bonding in the community. Explore and engage in discussions about approaches to restore confidence and promote inter-ethnic bonding and build trust at the community level

Inter-faith Dialogue - An Overview to Hinduism
 

In the spirit of racial and religious harmony, the Inter-Religious Organisation, Singapore (IRO) organises inter-faith seminars in partnership with OnePeople.sg to promote inter-faith understanding among youth, ethnic, religious and community groups. Mediation Course for Community Leaders
Understand key concepts of Mediation and approaches to dealing with inter-ethnic conflicts in our Mediation Course for Community Leaders. Conducted by Mr Viswa Sadasivan, CEO Strategic Moves, this interactive course will explore and discuss the barriers to community engagement, issues that lead to inter-ethnic conflicts and how these can be resolved amicably.

Community Engagement Workshop for School Clusters

How can teachers deal with common situations where students make nasty comments at their fellow classmates about their race or religion? Explore how to sense, identify and engage any race or religious concerns at institutional stratum through the Community Engagement Workshop, a joint effort by Ministry of Education and OnePeople.sg. A total of 9 sessions were conducted in May-June 2009 and 8 more sessions are scheduled to be held in 2009.
