Camp Ignite! 2017: Harmony from the Heart
Camp Ignite! is an annual key programme of OnePeople.sg that is led by our Youth Advocates. It serves as an avenue for our youths to take on a leadership role and actively promote racial harmony to their peers.
As a Racial Harmony Ambassador Camp, these youth participants are groom to be advocates of racial harmony in their own right and influence their peers around them.
‘Ignite’ also encourages participants to learn and appreciate the different cultures, traditions and heritage in Singapore. Participants will have first-hand experiences on various cultural games and foods and also understand the “Dos” and “Don’ts” during experiential visits to cultural and religious places where they gain a deeper awareness about other cultures in Singapore.
The camp aims to foster positive inter-racial friendships, initiative to understand other cultures and a positive attitude towards racial harmony and social cohesion.
The underlying theme for this year’s Camp Ignite! is ‘Harmony From the Heart’ is to signify that the move towards a harmonious society is only possible through heartfelt efforts. To go beyond tolerance and towards acceptance, campers will learn that racial and religious differences need to be embraced sincerely with all their heart that unifies us as one.
