OnePeople.sg has been conducting conversations on race, in particular, difficult issues which confront issues of ethnic and religious diversity. Having dealt with conversations on the ground, now we wish to extend videos of these conversations online and get a greater number of people on board, who may benefit hearing from diverse perspectives as well as share their views. We hope the video series would enable us to aspire for a deeper state of relations beyond tolerance.
If you are interested to take part in having ground up conversations like these, we welcome you to join Experiential Conversations. Click HERE for more information. We welcome you to participate.
The OnePeople.sg Experiential Conversations
OnePeople.sg Experiential Conversations provides an avenue for frank and constructive discussion on deeper issues about race in a trusted and safe space. Held in an informal setting, the programme aims to explore one’s openness to ethnic and religious diversity and enhance an individual’s understanding of inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations.
The engagement model of an Experiential Conversations comprises of establishing norms of respect, trust and confidentiality within the group setting, taking an on the spot survey which gauges one’s openness to diversity and bringing forth diverse views and perspectives from the participants. Through the findings from the survey, topics such as the relevance of the race categorisation model, casual racism and social labelling can be discussed.
The key objectives of the programme aim to address some of the gaps in our current racial harmony context, gain insights into diverse perspectives, open up blind spots and build new networks.
