Free Kicks

Free Kicks is a year-long soccer training and racial harmony programme jointly organised by OnePeople.sg, Central Singapore CDC and the Self-Help Groups for children between 8 to 15 years old from all backgrounds. The launch of Free Kicks on 22 March 2009 at SAFRA Tampines marks the start of a year-long programme, as well as the collaboration between the partners in realising the synergies in their efforts towards fostering social cohesion and building a community of friends through soccer.

The training sessions are conducted by professional coaches from Asia Football Group.

The aims of this programme are:

  • To foster friendships among different ethnic groups
  • To inculcate and nurture racial harmony values among participants to embrace, understand and appreciate our multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society
  • To synergise the efforts of all partners towards building a cohesive society

To further emphasise these aims, integrated racial harmony programmes such as visits to ethnic institutions, multi-cultural workshops and community engagement events are organized by OnePeople.sg, Central Singapore CDC and the Self-Help Groups.
