33 National Education ambassadors and student leaders from River Valley Primary School attended the OneKidz-Trust Home programme on 8 and 9 October as part of their learning journey. This collaboration with Central Singapore was initiated to provide children with an opportunity to understand and appreciate the daily customs and practices of different ethnic communities through workshop, home visits and sharing sessions. The ambassadors went through a half-day OneKidz workshop which provided a platform for them to appreciate our cultural diversity and encourage bonding
Following the workshop, participants went on home visits to experience other cultures firsthand. They visited 3 host families; namely 2 Malay families and an Indian-Eurasian family. The families shared their cultural and religious practices with the participants as well as photographs of their matrimonial ceremonies. The students also had the opportunity to share experiences and dialogue with our hosts during the sharing session. These discussions centered on common values we need to uphold as a multi-racial community. Participants and teachers found the programme to be an enriching experience.
