With the theme “Achieving An Inclusive Community: Challenges & Opportunities”, the NUS Community Engagement Programme Student Network organised a Diversity Symposium which had more than 100 students and facilitators in attendance.
Minister for Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat gave a personal speech on the importance for an inclusive society and answered intriguing questions from the ground. The audience had an engaging conversation session with the minister.
Students were divided into different groups to carry out discussion sessions on the following social topics, “Hate speech, social media, anonymity and the online citizen”, “Immigration & Social Integration” and “Religion and conflicting views”. Trained facilitators from OnePeople.sg helped to engage the students in the discussion sessions and the programme ended with a sharing session on the feedbacks and views from everyone.
