CampTeen – Diversity GO!
CampTeen -Diversity GO!
In today’s increasingly globalised society, it is important for our younger generation to strengthen cross-cultural understanding and forge friendships beyond their comfort zones. This also helps solidify trust between our diverse communities.
Targeted at secondary school student leaders, CampTeen – Diversity GO! seeks to:
- Enhance multi-cultural understanding among various ethnic groups and nationalities in Singapore including appreciation and understanding of one’s own culture;
- Provide platforms for multi-racial, multi-ethnic youths to bond and forge close inter-racial friendships and trust through common interests;
- Develop leadership skills and build youth advocacy and champions for racial and religious harmony.
Campers will undergo a 4D3N residential programme with peers from diverse backgrounds including campers from Madrasahs, SAP and International schools. The Camp will offer a rich multicultural learning experience as well as develop team building and leadership skills. Students can look forward to heritage explorations, outdoor adventure, enrichment activities and experiential learning.
The theme proposed for Diversity GO! is to simulate the dynamic interaction of the participants through the activities and games. More importantly, the theme seeks to highlight the fact that culture is also dynamic and never static and new nuances can be found. Participants are to uncover these nuances, negotiate and share their experiences of diversity and visits to the various cultural places.
